IGU Organizing a seminar on 'World Brotherhood Day'. *
On the occasion of 'World Brotherhood Day', a one-day seminar was organized under the joint aegis of Indira Gandhi University, Mirpur, Rewari and Vivekanand Kendra, Rewari, inspired by the great teachings of Swami Vivekananda, the source of inspiration for the youth. Swami Vivekananda's historic speech at the Chicago Parliament of Religions on 11 September 1893 is celebrated as World Brotherhood Day every year across the world in which he propagated the spirit of "Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam".
The program started with lighting of lamps and the university's anthem. This program was organized by Swami Vivekanand Peeth and Student Welfare Department. The chief speaker of the program was Dr. Amarendra Kumar Arya from Delhi University, Delhi. Vice Chancellor Professor Aseem Miglani welcomed the chief speaker with a bouquet of flowers. Vivekanand Center, Rewari's Nagar Pramukh Mr. Mahesh Sharma started the program with the chanting of Om and encouraged all the young students towards patriotism by singing a song. Professor Ravindra, seated on Swami Vivekanand Peeth, welcomed the chief speaker, teachers and all the students and wished them a Happy World Brotherhood Day. He inspired all the students to follow the path of progress shown by Swami Vivekanand.
The keynote speaker Dr. Amrendra Kumar Arya in his speech congratulated all the young students on World Brotherhood Day and quoted Swami Vivekananda's speech at the Chicago Parliament of Religions, "My American brothers and sisters….." With these words Swami Vivekananda preached unity, brotherhood and harmony throughout the world. A great wave of enthusiasm ran through the audience. They stood on their feet with thunderous applause for two minutes continuously. In his speech he preached religious tolerance and harmony. The American press praised Swami Vivekananda as the "cyclonic monk from India" and highlighted his lofty ideals which not only placed the name and fame of Swami Vivekananda but also India and Hinduism on the top of the world. He told that his speech at the Chicago Parliament of Religions was important in bringing India and Sanatan Dharma on the global map, introducing India to the West and breaking the false image made by the Westerners about India and Sanatan Dharma. Swami Vivekananda emphasized throughout his life that there is divinity hidden in every human being and to recognize it and treat others with cooperation and compassion is true religiousness.
In his address, Vice Chancellor Professor Aseem Miglani said that "World Brotherhood Day is not just an event, but a consciousness - which inspires us to rise above the bonds of caste, religion, language and border and consider the entire human race as one family." He said that in today 's era when various types of divisive forces are active in the society , it is very important to keep the spirit of brotherhood alive . He appealed to the youth to include tolerance , compassion and global unity in their life values . He called upon all the students to adopt Indian culture and the work style and struggles of Swami Vivekananda in their lives.
Professor Ravindra Kumar, seated on Swami Vivekananda Peetha, welcomed all the keynote speakers, guests, teachers and all the students and wished them a Happy World Brotherhood Day. He inspired all the students to follow the path of progress shown by Swami Vivekananda. Sister Nishita from Swami Vivekananda Center, Kanyakumari was present, who told all the students about the specialties and activities related to Swami Vivekananda Center and encouraged everyone to join it and took the initiative to adopt the ideals of Swami Vivekananda in the future.
Dean Student Welfare Department Professor Karan Singh thanked the keynote speaker and all the students and encouraged all the youth to move forward by adopting the Indian mythological culture, traditions and struggles.
The program was conducted by Assistant Professor Dr. Jagir Nagar from the Hindi Department. Vice Chancellor Professor Asim Miglani, Professor Aditi Sharma, Professor Pankaj Kumar Tyagi honored the keynote speaker Dr. Amarendra Kumar Arya, Mr. Mahesh Sharma and Sister Nishita by presenting them mementos. On this occasion, Dean Academic Affairs Professor Sunil Kumar, Professor Pankaj Kumar Tyagi, Professor Aditi Sharma, Professor Vijay Hooda, Professor Deepak Gupta, Dr. Mukesh Yadav, Dr. Sunil Kumar, Dr. Virendra, Dr. Sandeep, Finance Officer Mr. Anil Kumar, Action Mr. SK Yadav, along with teachers, non-teaching staff and students were present.
